With its rolling hills, walkable, suburban streets, and bustling downtown area, Millbrae is considered the quintessential Peninsula city.

Located just west of San Francisco International Airport and with state-of-the-art BART and Caltrain stations and easy access to El Camino Real, Millbrae is a dream come true for today’s busy commuter. Millbrae is also a popular choice for families with school-aged children thanks to its top tier education system.

Bordered by San Bruno to the north and Burlingame to the south, Millbrae has a population of just over 22,000 and an ever-evolving demographic makeup. Its residential communities are varied and filled with suburban charm. From the quaint, pre-War, tree-lined streets of Millbrae Highlands to the sleek, contemporary homes of Capuchino, Millbrae offers something for every taste.

Millbrae’s bustling downtown area is home to many small retail shops and restaurants as well as larger chains. The five-block stretch of Broadway is considered the heart of downtown, offering many attractions for locals and visitors alike. Despite continued growth, Millbrae holds tight to its small-town roots with yearly community events such as the much-anticipated Millbrae Art and Wine Festival.

Like many of the Peninsula cities, Millbrae enjoyed a boom in growth after World War II, in part driven by the existence of nearby Mills Airport (now San Francisco International). Thanks to this growth spurt, Millbrae’s current housing market includes a combination of pre-War homes as well as a large percentage of newer dwellings, especially in the city’s western quadrant. From a real estate perspective, Millbrae home prices are quite varied, ranging from entry-level single-family homes and condos to newer, sprawling mansions. Its population is largely a mix of tech-industry up-and-comers and legacy residents.
